We cannot call all of these '-isms' philosophies, because not all of them are complete systems of philosophy.  Several of them overlap with one another, for example; a deist is usually also a rationalist; a pantheist may or may not be a mystic. The French philosopher, Jean-Paul Sarte called himself both an atheist and an existentialist. It is helpful, however, to examine each one separately, in order to understand how it can affect a person's world-view. These philosophies are all man centered, and they all view man with no standard outside himself. In these 'isms', Man begins from himself, with no knowledge except what he himself can discover, and Man is the measure of all things, as the Enlightenment expressed it.  Each -ism is defined and explained in ACA newsletters. These are some of the major philosophies in Western thought.  As a result of accepting these philosophies in our lives, in our education, and culture, there has been a tremendous shift away from Biblical truth.  These erroneous views of truth have dominated European and American thought in recent times.  Our task at ACA will be to address these erroneous views by presenting the Biblical Truth in light of the One who has revealed Himself as the Truth- the Lord Jesus Christ.
